“Quaint, Clean, and Kind”

Eliathos was so quaint and clean, overlooking all of Archanes. The hosts were so kind and accommodating and breakfasts were AMAZING. The pool was beautiful. I stayed with a large group of about 25 and each villa had its own quirks. I would recommend it to anyone.

Eliathos is one of my absolute favorite places on Earth. We have stayed there twice now and we intend to come back many more times. The location, on the hillside above Archanes, with incredible views of the town and the Mediterranean, is ideal. The sheer beauty of the grounds is stunning, with perfectly kept landscaping and beauty all around. The apartments, inside and out, are pieces of art that you never want to leave. The decor so tastefully done. The pool area is equally breathtaking. The owners, Katie and Ilias, have been very pleasant to work with and extremely helpful in our planning, and the manager, Fofi, is a delightful person and a very warm and welcoming host. Every aspect of our stay was cheerfully taken care of and their hospitality is unbeatable. Breakfast is varied and amazing (best yoghurt and honey I've EVER HAD), and eating at the tables among the olive trees and up on the rooftop is extremely pleasant. They have a dinner menu that we ordered from one night and were not disappointed. Easily some of the best traditional Greek food I've had in Greece! We feel deeply grateful to the entire staff for making our stay extremely pleasant. Whether you want to simply stay at Eliathos for a week or a month, soaking up the serenity and relaxing among the beauty, or use it as a home base to explore Archness, Knossos, Heraklion and the rest of Crete, you will not be disappointed! We would give this place a 10 out of 5!!!

“Country Villa”

We spent three nights here while visiting Archanes and Heraklion. We spent three nights here while visiting Archanes and Heraklion. Pros: -Beautiful grounds that are extremely well maintained. -Quiet and peaceful, away from the noise. -Villa was modern, clean, and well equipped. -Coffee pods on the counter and water in the frig. -Plentiful hot water. Cons: -A bit hard to initially find. Don't try it after dark. -Limited communication prior to arrival. -No information provided on the villa prior to arrival. Ours was a one bedroom with the bedroom being upstairs. Stairs were narrow and had a 90 degree turn and three triangle shaped steps at the halfway point. The bedroom itself had a slanted ceiling which, on one side of the bed, was less than 4 feet tall. Ceiling at the highest point was only about 6.5 feet. These things combined made it a bit of a challenge for a 73 year old man, six feet tall, with bad knees. Problems were my bad. I would recommend anyone staying here communicate with the management concerning the room specifics.

“Our 1 Bedroom Villa was not suitable for the Tall and/or Elderly”

We fully concur with Donnie Y's comments below. We also booked a one bedroom villa and while the ground floor layout was fine, we found the very steep, narrow, stairs to the bedroom very tricky to negotiate. We are both under 1.7 meters and still found most of the bedroom was too low to walk in. Pl… lisää

We also booked a one bedroom villa and while the ground floor layout was fine, we found the very steep, narrow, stairs to the bedroom very tricky to negotiate. We are both under 1.7 meters and still found most of the bedroom was too low to walk in. Plus, the ceiling came down very low over the bed-head end so if one got up during the night (or even raised themselves to a sitting position) a bad head injury would result. Our solution was to leave the downstairs light on all night so that should one wake up enough light would (hopefully) alert one to the roof beams hovering overhead. The access road was very narrow with blind bends and hardly a passing space. The property was not well signposted and we drove into a neighbour's driveway in error. We also found the managers conspicuous by their absence: there was no-one on site when we arrived: we had to phone them to arrange to be met (even though we arrived at the agreed time). So that is the bad news. The good news is that the grounds are indeed beautiful and the pool area superb. The development itself is certainly externally attractive. We also very much liked Arhanes village and the friendly people there: Bakaliko was our go-to taverna in the village square and we highly recommend it.
