Stayed at Kekia for four nights in early July. We had the two bedroomed apartment with terrace. I believe there is a smaller studio in the same block. Upon arriving you will find the apartment down a sort of dirt track and then up some stairs and more stairs. This place is a serious no go if you have mobility issues. That said, the higher up you are in Dubrovnik, the better the views and that is certainly the main attraction with this apartment. Situated a very short walk outside the old city walls, you do get an impressive view of the sea and the whole of Dubrovnik, it really is spectacular and worth paying for. Inside the apartment is a small downstairs shower room, a twin bedroom with shuttered window to the side and plentiful wardrobe space. The main lounge area featured a vaulted ceiling, air con, L-shaped, leather sofa, sofa bed, recliner chair and a real fire place. The lounge was separated from the dining area by a large TV unit, both area had direct access onto the terrace. Off the dining area was a very well equipped fully-fitted kitchen with everything you could possibly need. The cupboards and drawers were packed with crockery, pots, pans, utensils, glasses, gadgets and a myriad of things. A dishwasher and washing machine was available, with powder and tablets for both. Above the dining area, on a mezzanine level was a double bed in an area with it's own air conditioning unit and a full bathroom en-suite. Any storage in the apartment seemed packed with bedding, tools, gadgets and bric-a-brac. The terrace was furnished with coffee table and four chairs, awning to keep the sun off, clothes airer and also a selection of household cleaning equipment. There was even a vacuum cleaner indoors. The terrace was a great place to watch the sunset from. You can also observe the millionaire yachts and speedboats which Moor off between Dubrovnik and Lokrum island. Walking down into the old city walls took about 10-12 minutes and was easy, but the walk back up the stone steps wasn't for the meek, just take your time. Dubrovnik as a destination was just beautiful and not as pricey as I had originally thought. There is a supermarket just ten minutes to the left when you walk down to main road. Another two just outside the city wall, that is if you choose to self cater, however eating out in Dubrovnik does not have to be a pricey option. I would certainly and indeed I already have recommended Kekia.

We had the 1-bedroom apartment and this has had a few unfavourable comments. To get them out of the way: The bathroom. It is small but functional. The shower is the problem. It is cramped, the shower curtain is flimsily attached to the wall and the shower-head does need a wall fitting. The main issue is the water tank. It share the shower and I lost count of the number of times I hit it with my head. Either a slimmer tank or a new location but it is a problem. The steps. After a week in Dubrovnik, I know it is impossible to avoid steps so the fact they exist is not the issue. It is that they are a bit of a shock when you first arrive. We had a taxi from the airport which dropped us at the apartment at the top of the hill. It was not until we went looking for a shop that we realised how many steps there were. This should be mentioned in the promotional material. Another minor quibble was the lack of information and the empty fridge. Other reports mention the wonderful Kekia and the fresh juice in the fridge. Obviously, this is for the bigger apartment. After all that, the plus points. The apartment was the perfect size for the both of us. The bedroom is spacious and the view of the city and the bay were spectacular. What I assume was a larger apartment below had a terrace but no view at all! The air-conditioning was more than adequate for the job. Once we agreed on a temperature setting, it was brilliant! The difference in the morning between the bedroom and the apartment was amazing. The bed was a perfect size and very comfortable. There were bedclothes and plenty of towels to get us through the week. The TV did not work but I have a history of not getting them to work on holidays. It did not matter to us as we had no intention of travelling to Dubrovnik to watch television! The WiFi, which has been complained about, worked perfectly. Alan (I think) who met us at the apartment, told us there was a supermarket 50 metres away. Like most distances in Dubrovnik, this was on the hopeful side. Choice of 2 shops and both are about a 10-15 minute walk away. Choice depends on how many steps you want to climb on the way back! This is not the greatest apartment in the world but it was exactly what we needed for our break. The location was wonderful (apart from the steps); walking distance from the Old Town but very peaceful at night. The view is to die for. Wholeheartedly recommend but remember the steps and bring a crash-helmet for the shower.

“The balcony and the view is everything!”

We had the two bedroomed apartment with balcony. The apartment is situated close to the Old Town, with a grocery store nearby. We stayed in early June and didn't need any Air Conditioning. We had the two bedroomed apartment with balcony. The apartment is situated close to the Old Town, with a grocery store nearby. We stayed in early June and didn't need any Air Conditioning. It is a quiet area and as all places with a view in Dubrovnik - a lot of stairs. The apartment is in need of an up-grade, in theory there are two bathrooms, but the en-suite in the mezzanine was out of order. The downstairs bathroom could need a good scrub... ...but the balcony and the view is spectacular!
