“OK for a short stay”

Stayed here for 3 nights to bird watch in the area. The only restaurant was within the hotel, the other was being renovated. The food was alright, rice, beans and a choice of fish,shrimp, chicken, beef or pork. Sometimes the pork was good, other times not as tasty, the shredded beef was always good. Breakfast was OK, fruit, eggs & bread, remember this is rural Cuba not Havana or a resort! It was quiet when we were there. A small band played one evening. The room was basic but clean and everything worked. Not many sockets. Wifi was intermittent. Unfortunately, there was an issue the first morning when a water pipe broke but this was fixed whilst we were out. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

“Basic hotel at a good price”

Once you leave the resort areas you need to manage your expectations for Cuban accomodations. We found the staff to be very accommodating . Once you leave the resort areas you need to manage your expectations for Cuban accomodations. We found the staff to be very accommodating . The room is somewhat Spartan, but had a toilet seat and toilet paper--which is sadly not that common in many areas that I visited. We had to ask for soap and hand towels, but were granted them right away. We were there on a Sunday/Monday stay while visitng family and it met our basic needs. The lobby bar was decent--though very busy on sunday. But was a nice break on Monday night. We didn't have time to use the pool but found it in good condition when we were there. There is a local night club near the pool that had some local singers on sunday night and we felt right at home. And the prices were great! I would agree that the restaurant is not very good. Breakfast was awful, but there are a number of great cafe's within walking distance of the hotel. If staying or more than one night--leave a small tip for the maid on your first night and she will bend over backwards to please you for the rest of your stay. We received a lovely note from our maid, extra towels, extra soaps and specially made beds all for a $2 dollar tip. They will also bring you an iron If you need it. It's not luxurious by any means but we found it to be a decent place for a night or two that allowed us to be close to family.
