We recently stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton and had a very enjoyable experience. As we had a car, we found there was plenty of onsite parking available, which made things very convenient. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Ana, who was friendly, professional, and made us feel at home straight away. We stayed in Room 349, which had lovely views overlooking both the mountains and the sea. The bathroom was well equipped with Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries, which was a nice touch. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Although it could get busy at peak times, we never had to wait long for a table. One feature we particularly appreciated was the system for ordering omelettes and eggs. Instead of standing in a queue waiting for freshly cooked items, guests simply completed an order form, which made the process much more efficient and enjoyable. I would also like to commend Ana and the supervisor (unfortunately I didn't catch his name), who clearly paid great attention to detail and ensured everything ran smoothly. The rooftop pool was pleasant and well maintained, with food and drinks available throughout the day. There is also a Continente supermarket approximately a 10-minute walk from the hotel, which was very useful for picking up essentials. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend this hotel to others.

This is a new and very clean hotel. Since my flight arrived at 6:30 am, the front desk agreed to hold my luggage until check-in after my schedule full-day van tour of the island. When I checked in, the very friendly front dest representative thanked me for being a Hilton Gold member and informed me that there would be no fee for using the spa and a daily full buffet breakfast would be provided. I also received one free drink voucher and two free bottles of water daily in my room. The room was spacious and including a refrigerator. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very good. I ordered a cheeseburger at their rooftop restaurant which was delicious and reasonably priced. The view was great too! The spa facilities were excellent, modern and clean. There are lockers, large steam room (great temperature!), sauna, indoor pool and jacuzzi spa. There was plenty of free parking on the street beside the hotel. Lastly and most importantly, the staff were all super friendly. I never mentioned that it was my birthday. They figured it out themselves. At the breakfast buffet and when i walked by the front desk, they wished me happy birthday. They also gave me a small cake and bottle of champaign in my room. If I could give this hotel more than five stars, I would.

“Not very family friendy, good for solo or couples”

I rate this 3.5. The hotel is not very family friendly. We requested an early checkin, since we reached Sao Miguel via a morning flight and had our infant with us. I rate this 3.5. The hotel is not very family friendly. We requested an early checkin, since we reached Sao Miguel via a morning flight and had our infant with us. Not an unreasonable early checkin, maybe an hour or two than usual. The staff kept saying we have prioritised you and will send you a Whatsapp msg, but no msg came till 3:15. I had to recheck and then they said yes its ready. I also asked if I could grab a banana from the buffet for my baby and the front office staff refused. How rude is that? Is a banana going to break your bank?that too for a baby? Luckily the restaurant staff was nicer and the chef made me some rice for my daughter as I requested, I paid for it ofcourse but they answered my questions patiently. The room was nice. No complaints about that, got partial sea view. Less vegetarian options in the menu. Really need to train the front desk staff to be warmer (not fake) and more accommodating. I really think they were a little racist.
