“Best time in Dunkerque”

For a history buff, best place to stay, close to the museum and peer, in front of the sea. It's worth to take a room with sea view, to observe the morning colours. This is probably the best hotel in the area, with an excellent restaurant as well.

Stayed here for four nights, firstly the hotel location is the best in the area , not cheap but great location the reception and cleaning staff are very attentive, the L'Opale restaurant however was not only limited for Celiacs the gluten free area consisted of a toaster and one type of bread, thats not a major as there was plenty on the buffet to cherry pick from as it were, however in the restaurant itself and especially for any room service you have 2 choices and thats it, there were no offerings when asked of alternatives and ditto for vegetarian, so if you are looking for gluten free or veggie one night would be max food wise, this together with if you want room service when you dial to order on several times they either do not answer, or when they do then put the phone straight down when you start to speak, so to order you have to physically go down to the restaurant itself and order and pay at the desk! did this 3 times for room service? The one night when we actually ate in the restaurant there appears to be 2 different menus (not offered) one for British (limited) and another for French, this with the fact the staff are rude and talk behind your back and continually serve you last if you are British makes you feel unwelcome to say the least, would I rush back probably not the hotel is ok, the rooms are quirky the loo is the other end of the room with no wash facilities so you have to then walk to the bathroom at the opposite end to wash you r hands? (fit a small corner sink in the loo ffs!) Nice surroundings/beachfront etc and great spot for visiting Ypres and wartime sites from the Eurotunnel is 35 mins so location great, Food would be Nul point im afraid..

This hotel has an excellent location overlooking the beach and is in close proximity to museums and restaurants. The hotel is spotless. This hotel has an excellent location overlooking the beach and is in close proximity to museums and restaurants. The hotel is spotless. The room (with very small balcony with uncomfortable metal chairs!) has got everything but is rather small: designed to maximize the space. The shower was top, but there was only one wash basin for a double room. The toilet was separate but there was no hand wash basin and the toilet seat was cheap plastic. The accomodation is overpriced for average quality. The reception is dark and rather gloomy, the use of the spa and the car park is charged extra ( of course we were “warned“ before!) but should be included in the service (we understand that reservation may be necessary). The breakfast is adequate but nothing that you cannot get cheaper in an Ibis hotel! The bar is nice, the bartenders are friendly.
