Cool and funky, Mama Shelter was a unique experience. First to hit you is their decor- eclectic, with artsy patterns and bold designs, very different from your standard hotel, but in a good way. Service was excellent, breakfast of high quality and the rooms spacious. I did not partake in the karaoke rooms, but thought it a novel idea. I did have fun playing pinball in the lobby. I was happy to discover this hotel chain and due to this experience will seek it out in my future travels!

“Great fun in Dijon”

My wife and I stayed for the Halloween weekend. The hotel was in walking distance from the train station but off the main tourist areas. My wife and I stayed for the Halloween weekend. The hotel was in walking distance from the train station but off the main tourist areas. The hotel had a 'funky vibe' with pinball machines, foosball tables and a cool decor. There was a loud party going on in the restaurant but we heard nothing in our room above it. This is a great hotel for couples and families.

We staying in both Zurich and Dijon Mama shelter. The Dijon Mama Shelter room was an accessible room which had a large bathroom with a good size shower. The room however was tiny and I kept hitting my toes against the metal bed posts as the space next to the bed is too narrow. The hotel itself is quirky and fun with a cinema room and karaoke rooms which you can book . The breakfast was mostly good although it's so busy with convention guests that other guests are a bit overlooked i feel. Coffee cups ran out and the fruit juicer did not have many veges or fruit when we arrived later in the morning. I did appreciate that there was the ability to make fresh juice. As Accor gold members there were welcome drinks and water supplied plus some tasty treats. I dined at the restaurant and the steak I ordered was a bit chewy, not great. The hot chocolate was very good. Overall it was a good stay although I would choose a larger room if available. At the time the larger rooms were all booked out.

We stayed at Mama Shelter Dijon in a family room configuration, which was essentially two adjacent rooms connected behind a shared hallway door. This made for a very spacious and practical setup, especially for a family, and worked well overall. The hotel has a very distinct personality: casual, laid back, and clearly trying to be fun. The lobby and common areas have a dark, disco-like aesthetic, with pinball machines in the reception area and a generally playful, youthful energy. There are handwritten messages in colorful marker on the mirrors throughout the rooms, which adds to the concept. It’s definitely “a vibe,” but one that leans more toward a party atmosphere, so it depends on whether that aligns with what you’re looking for. That said, some of the design choices felt a bit off. Our room had carnival-style masks placed around the bedside lamps, which seemed intended to be whimsical but came across as slightly spooky and out of place. The rooms themselves were comfortable and, importantly, quiet. Beds were good, though the room temperature ran a bit cold during our stay. The bathroom setup is minimal, with a single all-in-one bottle for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, which may not appeal to everyone. The location is convenient (right at the edge of the pedestrian shopping area in downtown Dijon), making it easy to walk to restaurants and explore the city. Paid parking available underneath the building. Overall, a decent option if you’re looking for space and don’t mind (or actively enjoy) a bold, playful hotel concept. Best suited for those who appreciate a more energetic, design-forward environment rather than a traditional or understated stay.
