This was our fourth visit to Mhondoro and once again it exceeded every expectation. My family and I had another truly magical experience. We absolutely love everything about this special place. The game drives are exceptional. Our guide, Zaan, was incredibly knowledgeable and offered a fresh perspective that made this visit feel completely unique. We have now had four different guides across our stays, and each one has given us a different and memorable experience. The service and food continue to be outstanding, and the animals and reserve are simply incredible. Every detail feels thoughtful and effortless. I recommend Mhondoro to everyone I know. Many of our friends have since visited and it has become their happy place too. We cannot wait to return next year, if not sooner!

Review for Mhondoro Safari Lodge We had the most unforgettable stay at Mhondoro Safari Lodge in January, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality and service were exceptional. Every staff member was friendly, welcoming, and went out of their way to make our experience special. The lodge itself is beautifully designed, with luxurious amenities that made us feel right at home in the heart of nature. The food was absolutely delicious—every meal was a culinary delight, and the variety was impressive. Whether it was a fresh, light breakfast or a decadent three-course dinner, the chefs truly outdid themselves. However, what truly made our experience extraordinary was our ranger, Jace. He was nothing short of amazing. Jace is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to wildlife, with a deep knowledge of everything from the tiniest spiders to the mighty elephants. His passion for the bush and its inhabitants was contagious, and we felt so lucky to have him as our guide. Every game drive was filled with fascinating insights, and he had a way of making us see the animals and the environment in a whole new light. His ability to identify tracks, understand animal behavior, and share stories about the local ecosystem was remarkable. It’s clear that Jace has an immense respect for nature, and his enthusiasm made our safari experience much richer. We came away with a newfound appreciation for the wildlife and the incredible landscape around us. Overall, Mhondoro Safari Lodge exceeded all our expectations. We truly felt like we were in good hands throughout our stay, and it’s an experience we’ll cherish forever. Thank you to all the staff, and especially Jace, for making our visit so unforgettable!

“Spectacular scenery, luxurious accommodation and fabulous food but probably not the best for spotting the big 5”

Excellent arrival experience at the Mhondoro farm on the perimeter of the reserve where they served a great lunch made with produce from their own produce (also used at the lodge). Excellent arrival experience at the Mhondoro farm on the perimeter of the reserve where they served a great lunch made with produce from their own produce (also used at the lodge). A ranger then collects you and drives you the 1 hour trip to the lodge. Spectacular greeting by the staff who sing you in and then, with few formalities, you’re in your room. Suites are lovely: spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed and spacious with lovely views out across to the watering hole in front of the lodge. Food for dinner, especially the braai , was amazing and the best of any of the safari lodges we’ve visited. Game drives aren’t focused on ticking off the Big Five: the emphasis of the very expert and skilled guides is on the animals and their habitat, which suited us but if this is your first time probably better to choose somewhere with, for example, more lions. That said, we saw our first leopard ever here! Morning coffee and sundown drinks sometimes served by lodge staff out on the reserve where the guides rendezvous. That was a lovely experience too. Staff are uniformly charming and helpful.
